Police charge suspect with East Brainerd shooting

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have charged a man with Criminally Negligent Homicide after a shooting Monday evening in East Brainerd.

It happened at a home in the 7700 block of East Brainerd Road.

Officers found 25 year old Lauren Bonnema shot.

She would later die from the injury at the hospital.

Investigators interviewed 29 year old Cody Gilliland at the home.

They believe his “gross negligent handling of a loaded firearm” led to the shooting.
