United Way Kickoff Luncheon sets record

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The United Way kicked off their 2018 campaign today at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

Community leaders and elected officials joined together to hear United Way’s plan for the annual giving campaign.

This year’s goal is 11.5 million dollars.

They are focusing on boosting Chattanooga’s stability and family support.

They also raised money to place 2-1-1 kiosks in Hamilton County schools.

United Way Vice President Jeana Lee tells us “This is the largest turnout we’ve ever hard. 1200 people will be here today to celebrate our campaign and what’s to come. And I think that’s just a testament to United Way at its core is for community by community.”

Mayor Andy Berke and Chattanooga Police Chief David Roddy were among those in attendance.
