Police: Man shot sitting in vehicle on Rawlings Street

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting in the 2000 block of Rawlings Street after the victim showed up at a local hospital.

Police say officers were called to Rawlings Street around 1 a.m. Sunday morning on reports of shots fired.

Chattanooga Police say when officers arrived on the scene, they did not find anyone injured but they did find several shell casings.

About 45 minutes later, police were told a gunshot victim had arrived at a local hospital.

Chattanooga Police say 54-year-old Jeffery Miller was suffering from a non life threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder.

According to police, Miller said he was sitting in his vehicle and heard several gunshots.

Miller also told police he discovered he had been shot in the shoulder and left the area before going to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

The Violent Crimes Bureau is investigating.
