Juvenile shot on Chandler Ave. Sunday evening

Update, 4/19/21, 12:05 p.m. – Chattanooga Police now say that it was another 14 year old male that was handling the gun when it accidentally discharged injuring the other two teens. This teen was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

This correction was from a new press release from the Chattanooga Police Department Monday morning.


Update, 4/19/21, 9:27 a.m. – Chattanooga Police found a second shooting victim from this incident. In a press release, police stated that the second victim was located nearby the scene with a minor injury.

The two teens were handling the firearm when it accidentally discharged. The first victim was a 11 year old male and was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries. The other victim, who suffered minor injuries, was a 14 year old male and has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

 


CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Chattanooga police say that a teenager was shot Sunday near the Oak Hills neighborhood.

The shooting happened around 7 in the 4000 block of Chandler Avenue.

Police say that the victim is male and has serious injuries.

They are unsure of his condition at this time.

This is the second juvenile related shooting in Chattanooga in the last three days.

Sgt. Eames with the Chattanooga police department says, “Certainly, it’s alarming. Any time you have juvenile’s especially, with guns in their hands, that’s not a good thing. Certainly, that’s alarming. It’s alarming to the police department, it’s alarming to the community and it should be alarming to everyone. So, it’s something that we will want to uh dive into a little bit deeper to see what’s going on with that.”
